Title: I Would Do Anything for Love
Fandom: BtVS
Pairing/Character: Spike
Rating: PG
Summary: Spike dwells a bit on his love.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Spike. Though wouldn’t it be fun if I did.
Archive: At Ink-and-Quill
Author’s Notes: Wrote this one because Julie said she’d love to have a Spike fic written to Meatloaf’s song. This is the result. Gonna get a graphic for my effort! Woo Hoo! Thanks Toni for the beta! Oh yeah, and this takes place sometime after Spike leaves with Drusilla
Summary: This was written for a friend who wanted to have a Spike story written to the words of Meatloaf’s infamous song.

I Would Do Anything for Love

It was a simple thing to do. Push play. And that’s just what he did.
‘And I would do anything for love
I’d run right into hell and back
I would do anything for love
I’ll never lie to you and that’s a fact.’
Bloody hell. He took another long pull on the whiskey he was drinking.
Cursed. He was cursed.
Sitting on the floor, he looked around. He had nothing. Nothing but silence where her voice once filled his mind. Her singing, her riddles, her chants, they all consumed him. Once they had given his heart joy. She would dance. She would tease him until he could take no more and then laugh as he took her.
‘I would do anything for love
Anything you’ve been dreaming of
But I just won’t do that…’
Taking another drink, he yelled, screamed at the top of his lungs to fill the silence. He managed to set the bottle on the floor before falling onto his side. He would have done anything for her. Dru. Drusilla, his love.
‘That I would do anything for love
and you know it’s true and that’s a fact
I would do anything for love
and there’ll never be no turning back.”
So true, so true.
He had made a deal with the devil… the vampire slayer… in order to get his love back. His beautiful Dru had fallen under *his* spell.
The *BASTARD* Angelus. She had always fallen for him. So long as he was Angel, there was no connection between them. But when he was Angelus, Dru hadn’t noticed William the Bloody. Oh no! It was always about Angelus. So Spike had made the deal with the Slayer… Angelus for Drusilla.
He had gone to hell and back for her. He’d joined forces with the one chosen to destroy his kind. And for what? For Drusilla. ‘Vampires had no souls.’ ‘They were incapable of love.’ Whoever had said that was wrong. He loved Drusilla. She was the blood that sustained him. She was the force behind his will to survive.
But then Angelus had returned.
‘I’d run right into hell and back.’
Drusilla for Angelus.
The plan had worked. He’d gotten Dru out. But she hadn’t understood. She’d cried for *him*; she’d wailed and sobbed. Spike had saved her and all she could do was cry for Angelus. And now, she was gone. Lost to him forever.
Angelus had used her, manipulated her, and driven her over the edge. He didn’t deserve her affection. But she’d always given it to Angelus over him.
Spike finished off the whiskey and fell back to the floor. He would have done anything for her. Anything for love. He’d gone to hell… joined with the Slayer. Gambled. Won the battle. Lost the war.
She loved him, but she was bound to Angelus. The elder vampire was her sire. There was no way the younger vampire could compete with that. And he couldn’t exist with their world being ‘the three’. No way. He loved her. He hated Angelus.
Head on the cool floor, the song echoed through the room. It was the only sound actually.
Murmuring, he sang along with the last of the song,
“Anything for love, but I won’t do that.”
The End
